Exhibition: The Theaters of Michał Zadara and Barbara Wysocka: Posters and Ephemera 1997-2015

Swarthmore College McCabe Library - Free and Open To The Public from October 14 to November 15

An exhibition consists of posters and related theater ephemera spanning the artistic careers of the theater artists Michał Zadara '99 and Barbara Wysocka, the co-creators of CHOPIN WITHOUT PIANO. As reflected in the exhibition, both Zadara and Wysocka have had significant directing careers in both theater and opera, and they have collaborated numerous times as director and actor, as well as in various ways as the co-founders of the auteur company CENTRALA, based in Warsaw. Zadara's study of directing and Polish theater began with Prof. Allen Kuharski in Swarthmore's Department of Theater, and they have maintained a working relationship since Zadara's return to Poland in 2000. Zadara and Wysocka today are considered among the leading theater artists of their generation in Poland, and their work now includes a number of significant international productions, as well. The posters and ephemera are all from the collection of Prof. Kuharski, which consists of over 300 Polish and international theater posters and related materials that he has collected since 1981. On display in the second-floor lounge of McCabe Library. More Details
